Worship Ministry Grace Notes Blog
“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!” Psalm 150:6
Worship at First Baptist Church of Fairborn is more than music. It is a lifestyle that seeks to magnify the Lord and to make Him known in our daily walk. Each Christian has received only one true call to worship the Lord of Hosts, which occurred on the day of his or her salvation. So our call to worship on Sunday morning is not a call to begin worshiping but a call to continue worshiping in our daily lives. Our weekly services encourage that kind of daily devotion to God.
Worship at First Baptist Church is Christ-centered, musically diverse, and multigenerational. By combining timeless truths of our faith with new artistic expressions, we seek to serve young and old alike. We see God’s grace at work in our corporate worship (when we gather together) every time we celebrate a baptism or partake of the Lord’s Supper. Whether we are singing together, listening to our pastor’s sermon, or taking a moment in the service to greet those around us, we are engaging together in worship.
Both within and beyond the church walls, we are all one in Christ. He has made us one family, one flock. The worship ministry seeks to continue to draw people together in unity, setting three goals:
- First, we magnify our Lord in worship. (John 4:24)
- Second, we instruct our saints in righteousness. (Colossians 3:16-17)
- Third, we train our servants in musicianship and artistic expression. (2 Samuel 24:24; Malachi 1:6-8; Hebrews 13:15)
If you would like to be a part of what God is doing at First Baptist, there are a number of ways to get plugged in to the worship ministry.
Our choir is the backbone of the worship ministry at First Baptist Church. No audition is required. Just come to one of our rehearsals on Wednesday nights at 7:25pm in the choir room downstairs near the church office. We sing almost every Sunday from August through June. We also present special music for seasonal events throughout the year.
Our vocal team leads worship each Sunday morning. Members of the praise team are auditioned and selected from the Celebration Choir. They are also rotated on a weekly basis so that all praise team members have an opportunity to serve.
Our instrumentalists love to worship, providing support for us as we sing for God’s glory each Sunday morning. If you are interested in serving here, please contact the Minister of Worship to set up an interview.
Our tech team is integral to our worship services at First Baptist Church. They are a dedicated group of people who provide projection, lighting, and sound support each Sunday and for other special events. If God has gifted you in this area, or if you simply have an interest, let us know. We would love to get you involved.
